Do girls randomly write love song lyric in their notes?

There's this one girl that I really like. We've known each other for over a year. We actually didn't start talking until last quarter. So technically, we had only a quarter of interaction. She's just the usual pattern, sometimes we get along really well and are on the same wavelength, and other times she seems to give me the cold shoulder.

I've been meaning to tell her that I like her, but I'm not sure if one quarter is enough time to get to know someone. I am just worried that I could be moving too fast. I have never dated anyone. I was going to wait till the end of this quarter but it's been getting stagnant and awkward lately.

Anyway, today in class, I peeked over her notes and she has the lyrics of the song Contagious by Trapt:

"I let you in I let you in and you infected me
Can't get enough of you
Can't get enough of you
I breathed you in I breathed you in and now I'm in too deep

You're so contagious."

She also left the room for 5-7 minutes. I'm not sure if she had to go to the bathroom or she purposely did that so I can look at her note and perhaps it was a "message."

I'm not sure if it's just what girls do or if she is trying to tell me to get a move on and ask her out.

Do these girls like me? And are they ignoring me? If so why?

[TL;DR below]

I(15M) have known this girl(15F, whom we shall call A) since 2011 because we were classmates and had to sit together in class for the first quarter. We were also lab partners for 2 years. We became friends and go to a lot of the same events like parties. Then, I started liking her and eventually told her which she replied with just "Okay ;x". It was kind of awkward since this was my first time confessing and so I couldn't tell her that I thought she was a great person and couldn't show her how much I liked her and I think this is why I got friendzoned. After that, it was awkward. Luckily, it was the last week of school.

The next year, we got less awkward until it became almost normal. However, it felt like she started liking me halfway through the year. For example, when my friend said something about me liking another girl(15F, who was her bestfriend and whom we shall call B), A was looking at me so intently, it seemed like she wanted me to disprove it. She once also seemed like she was talking about me with B. I went to where she sat for lunch one time and then they stopped talking, then after some time went to another table. Then they started whispering to each other while looking at me and started giggling. I don't think they were making fun of me, I kinda thought that A had just told B that she liked me.

However, although A may have liked me, by then I had started liking B. Yes, A may have liked me and I still had a bit of feelings for her but I was not sure. So I thought that I should start moving on. So I started liking B because she was really fun and cute. She also seemed like she liked me because she always laughed at everything I said and always looked at me when she thought I wasn't watching(I also could tell who her crushes were before being told about them, so surely I should definitely know if she liked me right?).

When I started making a move on her, I was determined to show her how much I liked her to prevent the previous failure, even in front of her friends like A and also despite being shy. B started ignoring me though because I think she started losing interest in me maybe because I seemed desperate in chasing after her. It may have also been because A liked me and told B that one time at lunch and so B didn't want to mess with A and I and thus, stopped liking me. But this made me confused and also lowered my self esteem and made me become sorta socially awkward from my view. This social awkwardness made me lessen my interactions with others to prevent them from noticing it and avoiding me because of it. I became depressed because of this.

This continued into 2013. A and B moved to a different class, not because they wanted to though. Both of them stopped talking to me though i believe A's reason was due to the seperation while B was continuing to ignore me. My depression made me eventually have suicidal thoughts in September, which pushed me to stop being depressed, or at least lie to myself that I wasn't depressed. Around this time, I decided to start texting A more. B also seemed to be more amiable to me like when I visited her class to greet her on her birthday. Later in the year, I also greeted A on her birthday and she seemed extremely happy about it.

In 2014, I feel less depressed and less socially awkward. However, now whenever I wave at A, she never acknowledges it. Also recently when I greeted B she replied but acted like she hated me.

ADDITIONAL INFO Now before you ask, I'm not a player, it's just that I could never lose my feelings for A no matter how much I wanted to and no matter how hard I tried while going after B. But I never showed my feelings for A nor chased after or flirted with her, at least not consciously. I have mainly chased after B since July 2012. I am also not trying to make them jealous of each other and yes, I think both of them know that I liked both of them. I actually liked B during the first quarter of 2011 and she knows this.

TL;DR There's these two girls(A and B) whom I liked at different times. They both seemed like they liked me, yet friendzoned/rejected me. B started ignoring me. I got depressed but now I'm sorta back on my feet. B seemed to have stopped. Now in 2014 both of them seem to be ignoring me.

Now here's where I beg you to tell me where I went wrong and tell me why they are ignoring me. Was it because of the time I sometimes avoided others during my depression? Is it because they think I'm toying with them? Tell me why and also teach me how to fix this. Also, it would also be helpful if you told me whether either of them like me. Thanks in advance!

The Ultimate Shy Girl's Guide To Getting A Date

var cachebooster = (new Date()).getTime(); document.write( ''); Find an Expert
ProConnect Subscribe to Experts Blog By Monique Boyd. Posted on May 30th 2013.

shy girl's guide to dating Shy girls have a flirty side too! You don't have to say a word ... and he'll be hooked!

As a self-professed former shy girl, I can tell you that meeting men can be a downright brutal process. You are simply not comfortable going up to men and asking them out on a date. Going out to socials is fun for everyone else but you. You would much rather be home cuddling with your sweetheart, curled up with a box of popcorn watching Joey on an episode of Friends. Life just can't get any better.

Well, for all of my shy girls, I totally get you and have included some of my ultimate top 10 favorite ways that will help you get noticed and get the guy!

More from YourTango: So You're Marrying A Man With A Lot Of Financial Debt...

1. Be confident in yourself. This may sound like a contradiction, but you need to be confident in who you are and self-assured that you will get what you need in life. It helps you to honor your boundaries and set firm standards of what you will and will not tolerate from men. Interestingly enough, men love confident women and generally rank it high on their list of desired traits in a woman.

2. Dress to impress the guys. It's been said that women dress to appease other women. But when you're single, attracting men should be a priority. There are plenty of nice outfits for both day and night that would be perfect for the office and that late evening happy hour as well. You may want to check to see if there is a consultant in one of your favorite stores. Let her know the desired effect you want out of your look and she may be able to help you. You may also want to hire an image consultant.

3. Have a flirty, optimistic attitude. Men are attracted to women that can make them feel good. If you nag or complain a lot, then he'll begin to imagine this is what it will be like when the two of you are married and run away quickly. If you seem to always have a positive outlook on life, you'll be a keeper, as he'll imagine great times with you in the future. Having a positive attitude is worth more than its weight in gold in getting noticed by men.

4. Show charm and grace. These are traits that really stand out on a woman because they're not taught in schools or homes anymore. There are some men that love to have a beautiful woman on their arms who is also well versed on proper etiquette. He'll always think of you when he is invited to upscale events.

5. Wear unique accessories. You want to stand out in the crowd, right? Well, this is a fun way to do it. Wear something unique like a vintage hat or an odd piece of jewelry as they could be great conversation starters. I love hats and jewelry. As a matter of fact, when I'm out on a scorching hot day, I make sure to put on a pretty hat and I always catch a guy looking my way. Keep reading...

Girls lost interest in me

Love and Relationship Advice Forum

I've been single for a long time, I didn't date any girls because I was in depression for 6 months and it really didn't matter to me. During that time I lost some of my friends, girls that used to like me don't even talk to me and similair. I used to be an outgoing, fun, optimistic person and knew my way around girls. A lot of them liked me and I was quite popular. I used to be really confident and didn't care if I embarassed myself. I even had a great sense of humor. Few months back I decided to change, I couldn't simply continue being depressed. But now a lot of people I see everyday, mostly girls, ignore me. They only talk to me when they have to ask me something. A lot of them say that I'm kind of lost, in my own world and even shy and childish. I don't seem to be approachable. However, I work out every day and I have some social progress more and more every day, but I'm still weak in dating. I just don't know how to approach a girl anymore, or what to say. I forgot how to flirt and my humor is really weak. I just can't seem to relax. My best friend who is a "player", doesn't even know what advice to give me anymore. He said that he just doesn't know what's happening to me. What should I do to return to my old self as quick as possible? I'm bored of being single. My best friend is trying to make me approach a girl that I liked for the past 2 years on Facebook. But right now, the way the things are, she's way out of my league. She's popular, hangs out with meatheads and jocks, and she has a lot of friends. We used to flirt a little, but then we stopped. I'm afraid of approaching her, and I don't know why.. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do?
Look man. You re doing great in your life. It is just your perspective right now. I was same as you once. Popular, always around friends, but then things changed. I became loner and real antisocial? So? Guess what...In the mean time, while everybody has been partying and socializing I became deeply involved in many sports and training, martial arts, read many books, make some money on my own, received my bachelor and now I am working toward masters in quantitative finance. I dont know what to say around girls, I am in my own head a lot of the time and I only go out 3-4 time per year. But still get the chancee to regularly met all sorts of hot, smart woman.

So you might be the same type. Continue to involve in someone that has something to show. And if your are afraid to approach this girl...just remember better to try and fail as not to try. If you win her heart you will have some great moments. If she rejects you, use that as motivation, as energy to do sth extraordinary in your life. You can not lose.

I think you should just go for it. You shouldn't think about how or what you are going to say to these girls, just approach them and let whatever you say be natural. Yes, it can be a little scary but as soon as you get it over with, you willl be excited that you did. I don't know anything about approaching women because I am a female but I do what guys do when they approach me. They tend to have a decent conversation with me about anything then it turns into if you have a boyfriend or would you be open to exchanging numbers...things like that. I wish you the best of luck because I know the feeling of being lonely. I have a boyfriend and I still feel lonely at times. I guess he doesn't do it for me.
You need to be confident again. Other people can perceive and see it if someone isn't confident. No wonder there are people who fails job interviews because of confidence (whether lacking or overbearing). Anyway, you need to project to other people that you are ready to have a happy life again. If you believe in yourself that you can be happy and that you'd be great even in small things you do, then other people would be able to see that.
First of all, congrats on the steady progress. I believe as you keep trying to improve, the very little improvements you do achieve will add up and bring you to full glory. You just have to be patient.

I've never gone from being super social to regressing to a complete opposite. I can only speak from being a shy introvert who can't talk to women (and often friend zoned) to now being a super chatty regular man who has enjoyed some very cool relationships. From that perspective, I hope my advice can help.

That advice being: you need to truly believe that you are good enough. No matter your looks, your education, your financial status, etc... these are not relevant (I don't care what you think or have heard). As some have already hinted, even with all that, it still doesn't mean you will be confident with women. What I truly believe your problem may be is that you think you'll find happiness and sense of worth if you get a woman. Funny how if you make women (or anyone) the source of your happiness, you actual repel them. What you need to do is hang out with your cool buddies and find a way to become the source of happiness within yourself. Once you realize you are enough, all that crap about being unapproachable and hard to talk to goes away. Your mind state is what attracts or repels people. Keep your mind state a source of fun and no neediness and you'll find that women will want to join that party.

I'm sure you still are interesting to many girls. You don't have to be loud and funny to attract them. And don't worry, when you meet the right girl, you'll remember how to flirt. Just try to go out often and talk to many people, especially to girls.

The Single Girl's Guide to New Year's Resolutions

single girl fireworks Make 2013 your best year yet. What's your love resolution for 2013? One writer shares her list of 10 love lessons.

It's midnight and the ball is about to descend upon Times Square, but you look around and that special someone to kiss is nowhere to be found. "Alone again this year," you think to yourself, and then a bomb goes off in your mind, igniting an avalanche of other panicked thoughts as you reflect upon the year: "I thought he was the one!" or "I can't believe I'm single again!" or "What did I do wrong!" or "I wonder if he's with her tonight!"

If your love life wasn't what you thought it would be in 2012, don't despair. Too often, we feel pressured to have our lives in perfect order on New Year's Eve, complete with a killer sparkly sequined dress at an over-hyped party and someone to kiss at midnight. When the fireworks don't go off as planned, we're left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. But this is not what ringing in a new year is all about. Instead, it's a time for renewal, rebirth and new beginnings.

More from YourTango: Table For One: What My Breakup Taught Me About Dining Alone

A few years ago, I found myself single on New Year's Eve, newly separated from my boyfriend and in the depths of despair. I was drained of all my emotional energy and completely disconnected from myself. I needed a new beginning and a new relationship - with myself and eventually, a new boyfriend. Obsessing over what went wrong and forever mourning my failed relationship only made me feel depressed, not motivated to move on. So instead, I wrote myself a list of resolutions based upon the love lessons I learned.

More from YourTango: Once An Abuser, Always An Abuser?

When I started to take my own advice, I immediately felt stronger and more competent because I had created my own roadmap. When I felt brave enough to date again, I used my list to navigate my journey on the road to love. It's helped me to remember where I've been, what I've learned, how resiliant I can be and what I want (and don't want) for my future. I've kept my list handy throughout the years, adding to it as needed, and smiling to myself as I re-read each lesson. Though some lessons aren't applicable anymore, some I still need to remember.

If you want to move forward in 2013, take the time to empty your heart and soul of all the negative energy from your relationships passed. When you make your New Year's resolutions, instead of lamenting over things gone wrong, write down the lessons you've learned so you can move forward. Make a point to start 2013 with a fresh, positive outlook and an open heart to welcome all that the new year has to offer. Here's my list to get you started. Keep reading...

Picking up girls

Love and Relationship Advice Forum

Firstly for the record im not a perv every guy does it and if any girl has ever had a one night stand then you cant judge me.

I am a student at university but i have been going out to pubs and clubs for a while and i have never picked up a girl. I have never gone out with the intention of picking up a girl.

Whenever i make eye contact with a girl and give a small smile they look at me in disgust. What am i doing wrong. Other guys just go grinding on girls and stand making out with them and that works. I got a funny look when i just danced next to a girl. Why do women hate me before i have even said anything.

Two girls, so confused.

Love and Relationship Advice Forum

Hi everyone, new to the forum. My heart is basically in two and I don't know what to do - and so I figured I'd open this question up to the tubes. This is a complicated story, so I apologize in advance for the lack of brevity.

I have been seeing a girl for about 6 months and we are implicitly "exclusive" but haven't put a title on anything, and avoid saying things that boyfriends and girlfriends eventually say to eachother (like, for example, I love you). She's nice and attractive and intelligent. We live separately and see eachother about once a week on average, sometimes once every two or three weeks but also sometimes more than once in a week (we are both working and traveling so our schedules are crazy.) To be honest I know she'd make a good girlfriend, and a part of me really wants to ask her out to put a title on it - make it official and take things to the next step. The thought of her with someone else makes me really sad - I do have feelings for her, she's not just a hookup (though truthfully she started that way.) A big part of me would like to be boyfriend/girlfriend with her.

Then there's this other girl. We met over two years ago while I was on a short roadtrip with friends to a nearby neighboring country. We met for just 10 minutes while waiting for a bus, but we hit it off and exchanged emails. I thought she was beautiful and interesting from the moment I met her, but she was dating someone and so I kept things very cordial and we were kind of pen pals for a year, writing about general things but also about eachother and our lives. She broke up with her bf, and then we started texting because we had courses and were bored in them. Then we started talking on the phone and skyping. Then we were talking on the phone for hours, sometimes all night, and we'd skype regularly. We have shared a ton of information and personal things with eachother, and started "sexting" a ton too. I have to confess I have a tremendous crush on this girl. I find her exotic and interesting and amazingly beautiful, and we have a strong connection in some way. She is kinda like my "dream girl." So, over the last year since we've gotten closer and closer I have naturally tried to make plans with her to come visit her, or for her to come visit me, or meet half way, etc. Nothing seems to work out. Sometimes she says its the timing (she has a job) sometimes it's that "she likes me too much to see me" or there have been too many "expectations" or it's all been 'built up too much." Granted, the latter are probably true, but it still doesn't mean we should never meet up or see eachother. I feel like that's what two people who like eachother normally do. She says she is still single - which adds to the confusion. I have told her I don't care if she's gained weight or she snores or something, I just want to see her and spend time with her, which is definitely true.

So back to the local girl. As I go about my day, I think about the foreign girl and what she's doing, what it'd be like to have her with me at that moment, etc. more than I do the local girl. And truthfully, sometimes, though not always, when I'm with the local girl, I am thinking of the foreign girl. It makes me feel awful inside and terribly guilty but I can't help it. I know this isn't healthy mentally or physically.

But I don't know what to do. I have tried emotionally to move on, but it seems like can't seem to move on from this foreign girl until I see her - I need some sort of closure. But she always seems to have an excuse, which drives me crazy. But at the same time she'll be texting me all the time and calls me sometimes and sometimes we still sext. And this is naturally part of the reason I can't get past her, and I realize this - but I enjoy talking with her so much and find her so interesting and attractive that the thought of not talking with her makes me miserable, as does finding a new boyfriend and hence stopping talking to me. I actually have felt physically nauseated and just incredibly miserable when I think of her with another guy.

Advice? Thoughts? Goodness knows I need some. This is not a tenable situation.

I think that people always want what they don't have and what is hard to achieve, especially men are that way. What you think about this foreign girl is probably half of your dreams and half what she really is. But who knows, maybe you'll be happy together? You should find out - insist on the meeting, she is probably just scared. About the local girl - you clearly don't care about her that much, if you're thinking about somebody else when you are with her. Let her go, she deserves to be with somebody who'll really love her.
I'd agree with Claudine - your heart is not in the local relationship, so let that go so that she can find someone who will appreciate her. As to the other girl, it sounds like she's trying to let you down gently, but you're just not buying it. Ask her outright if she really wants to meet, and if the answer is no, accept it and break off contact. She either wants to meet or she doesn't, so find out and go from there.

Just One of the Girls

Yesterday at work, we had a kickoff meeting for our next project, a documentary about the Tea Party youth movement.

I was really looking forward to this one. I've enjoyed working on the three-parter about the New Orleans disasters, and it's been a great learning experience, but the idea of working on something politically-based was exciting. Plus, we're producing this one for an actual news organization, and it's already scheduled for airtime. I get to bring all of my skills and experience to the table. Or at least I did, until we sat down and worked out logistics.

I pulled out my folder, and outlined the work I'd done thus far. I'd made contact with two high school groups (one here and one outside of L.A.) that each had a representative willing to talk to us, as well as the head of a national network of college students.

"That's great, K," Nate said. "Here's how I want to do this. K., I want you to continue with the legwork, and we'll send Greg and Tex out to shoot."

Um, what?, I thought.

"The people I've been talking to are skittish about how they're going to be portrayed," I explained. "They're under the impression that I'm going to be the one doing the interviews."

"You can do the one here," Nate suggested. "And we'll send Greg to L.A. I'm sure you can convince them. Plus, we need to get an intern, and I know you've already reached out to a few people. We should get them in here for an interview."

After the meeting, Tex and Greg gave each other a high-five and talked about how excited they were to be going to L.A. together. I was bummed and annoyed. First of all, I had been really excited to go to L.A. I was going to spend a night at Sarah's, and she was going to take me out and introduce me to all of her friends. Second of all, I didn't want to just hand off my contacts to Greg. I had spent time researching them, talking to them, and getting them to trust me. Now, if I could even convince them to talk to Greg, he was just going to sail in and do the easy part.

At the end of the day, I overheard Tex and Greg making plans to go out for drinks.

"Wanna grab a drink, Nate?" Tex asked. Nate considered it for a long moment. Halfway through his moment, it seemed like his mind drifted elsewhere. Then he snapped out of it.

"I could get a drink," He finally said, slowly. They all began grabbing their stuff. Then Greg noticed I was still there.

"K., do you want to grab a drink?" he asked.

"Thanks, but I already have plans," I said as cheerfully as I could. It wasn't a lie, either – Ben was at a comedy show with Mitchell, and Ursula and I were meeting for dinner. "Have fun!"

Not to be all gender-biased or anything, but I am hiring a female intern. We need more estrogen in that office.
