A now infamous Newsweek article once claimed that a single 40-year-old woman was more likely to die in a terrorist attack than to get married. But does dating get that much harder for a woman entering her middle-aged years?

Despite what the statistics might say, all of our experts agree that finding your true match has no deadline. "It's not uncommon for first marriages to start at a later point in life," says Carmelia Ray. "So for women, being single is choice until they're ready."

The important thing for older women to remember is never to compromise on your integrity and authenticity. "As we get older, we have to have the courage to work on our own flexibility, and psychologically that's not always so easy," says Barbara Becker Holstein. "We have to be able to change routines."
