So i met this absolutely amazing guy about two months ago. He is pretty much the whole package, and is everything I could ever want in a guy. We have only went out twice, because he lives about an hour away from me, and I don't drive at the moment. I guess we are kind of doing the whole long distance thing. We text and call each other every day, which has completely made me really like him. He basically tells me everyday how much he likes me. He kissed me a few days ago, and it was probably the best night of my life. So yesterday things took a turn for the worst, he admitted to me that right before we started talking him and his girlfriend had ended things. He said that he just doesn't want to get too serious too fast, which I completely am on the same page with. We decided to take things a step back, and try and just get to know each other better. He said he doesn't want me to give up on him. But now when we text, he seems really off. Am I just reading into things too much??
I do not think he is off I think that is his way of taking things slow, he spoke about it and now you seeing the changes, meaning it is part of what he was saying by taking it slow
he told you not to give up, so don't give up yet!
you can still be curious about him as a person and get to know his experiences, interests, etc
Two things- yes, you are reading too much into things. When you say "things took a turn for the worse" I was expecting you to say that like, he had cheated or something. All he did was be honest about the fact he wants to take things slow as he is fresh from a break up. That's healthy. You're overreacting.
Second- he is pretty much going to control the pace of the relationship anyways as he is the only one that drives and you are long-ish distance. So it is going to be his own choice when to see you. Keep going and getting to know him and have your own life outside of him too. That way he knows you have your own thing goin on and can be more accepting of a slower getting-to-know-you pace
